San Marcos Youth Baseball is legally mandated to have all volunteers who are 18 years or older complete certain requirements before participating in the league. California Youth Protection Law (AB-506) requires youth volunteers to get a fingerprint-based Live Scan background check through SMYB, and complete a Child Abuse Mandated Reporter Training online course. A volunteer only needs to have Live Scan performed once unless the individual leaves the league for a period of greater than one year. Additionally, SMYB has a Child Protection Policy in place. All volunteers are required to read before engaging in league activities.
